Much represented LRS as it entered into a definitive agreement to purchase assets from Ontario-based GFL Environmental, Inc. The deal, LRS' largest acquisition to date as well as one of its most influential, is LRS' 13th announced transaction thus far in 2021. The acquisition includes Illinois-based Prairieland Disposal and Recycling Services and brings the addition of four transfer stations, eight facilities, and 120 employees. It also expands LRS' reach in Illinois and Minnesota. As one of the nation's largest privately held waste, recycling, hauling, disposal, and portable restroom companies, LRS has provided comprehensive recycling and waste diversion services for more than 20 years.
"LRS has moved aggressively to disrupt the waste industry status quo," said LRS President and Chief Executive Officer Alan Handley. "Our cornerstone differentiator is being among the first in our industry to adopt a circular operating model that today serves as a bedrock company value: to safely divert, repurpose and recycle more material away from the waste stream, conserving and protecting our planet for a more sustainable future."
Principals Mitchell Roth, Steve Schwartz, David Alman, Harold Dembo, Max Kanter, Sheryl Jaffee Halpern, Kathy Shaw, Jason Rosenthal, Irv Geslewitz, Ed Walsh, and Andrew Silver, served as advisors to LRS in the transaction. In a thriving partnership that began in 2014, Much helps LRS achieve its strategic goals by serving as general outside counsel in a variety of acquisitions in addition to its daily operational needs.
